Does county jail time count in a federal case?

Someone is in county jail awaiting court appearance and then waiting to be sent to federal prison. I was just wondering if this will be counted towards their federal sentence, because someone told me that it doesn't start counting until they reach the federal jail. Thank you for your help.Does county jail time count in a federal case?
If that was a cop who responded before, his job does not mean he is informed. Sorry. Ask someone who has been or someone who knows someone who has been.

IF the judge so determines it, jail time can count toward federal time, provided that time was spent in a jail that is also a federal holding facility. As far as ';5 years MEANS 5 years,'; pure BS. Federal time does permit good time (time off for good behavior. Federal good time is measured day for day. That means, the inmate can earn one day off his sentence for every day of good behavior. Provided there are no major rules violations, the warden can award this good time to an inmate, and they often do. The draw back is that if a major rules violation is earned, the inmate can go back to zero on the good time count, at the warden's discretion of course.

Keep in mind, cops don't know everything to do with the ';justice'; system. Actually, they know very little beyond their usually very sizeable guts. Maybe a few sports scores and the best places to eat. :)Does county jail time count in a federal case?
You were told right. Until the day you arrive at a federal facility, your federal time doesn't start.

And remember.... with federal time, 5 years MEANS 5 years. No good time, no early release.
