A friend of mine is possibly going to be brought up on federal criminal charges in a matter arising out of a particular state. However the US Attorney's office from that state recused themself and the case has been moved to a US Atty in another state nearby. A state that has NOTHING to do with the 'alledged' crime. Why would something like this happen? Thank you.Federal case moved from one state to another?
Because the US Atty has some sort of conflict in prosecuting the case.
Since the case is a Federal one, it really doesn't matter, legally, which State the case is heard in because it is FEDERAL law, not that of any specific State, that will be applied. If the case is appealed, for example, the appeal will be heard in a Circuit court that is probably not in your State either, and if THAT is appealed, the Supreme Court sits only in DC.
